Happy Halloween

Happy Halloween everybody! We hope yours was as good (and as fun) as ours. We started off our trick-or-treating adventure with a trip to the band (we had to go there anyways) and we showed off our jedi costumes, they gave us tonnes of candy! Next, off to the movie rental store to return Spiderman 3 (Awesome by the way!!!) and they gave us even more candy!!! The local library advertised in the paper that they were giving out candy to trick-or-treaters so we stopped by there and Liam and Ezra got hooked up!!! Next we went to our friends house to pick them up so they could join our adventure. We stopped at a Retired Living appartment complex and showed off our costumes. We took these pictures there. A lot of homes didn't answer, and some did but didn't have candy, but they loved to just look at all the cute kids in their costumes. The people that did have candy gave a lot of it, and one cute lady even took a video of the kids running to her door and showed it off proudly. (She took it with her phone!)
Next we all piled back in the cars and headed back to the library for Mosiah and our friends who hadn't been there yet and we got even more candy. Liam and Ezra waited in the car.
Then, off to the comunity church here that does a big Halloween Bash every year. Free entry and free hot dogs and soda for all the kids. 50 cents a dog for adults, and 50 cents for a pop. They have all the fun games you could imagine (well maybe not all, but lots...) and toys and candy for prizes. They also give the kids free raffle tickets with entry (you can buy adult raffle tickets if you want) and raffle off really cool prizes every half hour. I was standing right beside a lady who one a bike for her 8 year old, she just started bawling and it was so cool!
The hot dogs were delicious, and who doesn't love soda (other than my sister Cheyanne), so we had a blast. They also have a preschool room for kids under 6. The boys threw bean bags and made playdough halloween cookies (that they go to keep), and shot hoops with a beachball disguised as a basketball. They waded in ball pits and did a ring toss. They won really cool prizes and had so much fun!!!
When we were done at the church we headed over to the Subway (eat fresh!!!) parking lot where they were having a trunk or treat and got quite a bit of candy from there even though there was only 4 cars giving out candy (and one business.) Then we headed over to an assisted living home where all the residents were sitting around a big dining room table with big bowls of candy for the kids. They were so sweet, and loved the kids, spoiling them with to much candy. They had this little alligator bowl that you could reach in and get your own candy from (who doesn't love that) and Liam put his arm down and it chomped his hand scaring the poop right out of him!!! Later I tried it and it didn't even work, so I didn't think anything of it when Ezra ran over to grab himself some chocolate. Poor Ezra!!! He jumped about a mile when it chomped his hand! He didn't know if he should laugh or cry, so he just walked away and pretended nothing had ever happened. After that our friends headed home.
We got back in the car and headed over to our church to check out the other wards trunk or treat, but got there just as everyone was driving away. A couple of boys from Bills seminary class were there and they gave the boys candy out of their pockets which I thought was sweet.
When we finished walking around the empty parking lot we headed over to a community with lots of homes and went "trick-or-treating" (official trick or treating - door to door). Well, at least we tried. There were only about 4 actual homes that had candy, so we just packed up and headed back to the community church to end our evening. We played more games, got more free food and pop, and even more candy.
We now have so much candy we don't know what to do, Bill will probably take it to seminary and share.

Jack-O-Laterns

I helped Liam and Ezra both do their own pumpkins tonight. We also did two other ones, I will post better pictures tomorrow, but we had so much fun I had to get a start on it today. Ezra's pumpkin is a self portrait of himself. Liam's has "A's" for eyes: "because it's my favorite letter" he says. And a half circle nose, and a scary mouth. He picked everything himself. The other two pumpkins are a surprise, you will see them tomorrow, along with more cute pictures of the boys. I took these pictures in the dark with no flash, so they are definitely not good, but you can see the idea of it anyways!

Mosiah

This is our little buddy Mosiah, Mo for short. Here are a couple of pictures of him in all his cuteness.

Mo's beach day didn't have much beach involved. He mostly stayed in his chair, poor Mo. He wasn't happy about it either.





He did get spoiled by Nana though. He had so many fish crackers he didn't know what to do. And fish crackers make anybody happy (especially me and my boys!!!)



It was to cold to take him in the water, and he's at the eat everything in sight stage, so he didn't get to play in the sand either.

This is Mo when he got his 2nd new bed. It was just a really huge bassinet. He loved it. He was in a smaller one up to that point, and loved to roll around in the big one.

Trunk or Treat

Today was the Homestead Ward "Trunk or Treat"/Chilly and Cornbread party. The food was great, the company was good, and our outfits were so cool! We all went as Jedi. We only got a couple of photos after because Mosiah fell asleep in the car on the way home, and Bill had his Jedi robe off before the boys could even dump their candy on the floor! So its just Liam, Ezra and I. Enjoy!!!

Liam at the Beach

Liam is a big lover of Disneyland, as am I, AND he loves the beach, so this was one of his favorite trips. He also got to visit with his cousin Koehn, who happened to be the inspiration of "big boy underwear" and "potty training" for Liam... yeah Koehn!

Although most of the pictures are of Liam on the beach, Liam spent most of his beach day in the ocean, jumping over waves, being chased by waves, falling in waves, etc. Most of his pictures are of him building and destroying sand castles because I was in the water with him for most of his water time, and therefore, didn't have the camera.

When Liam wasn't playing in the water he was helping Daddy build sandcastles. Sandcastle after Sandcastle. The ocean would eat one, and then they'd move back and build another. He experimented with the sand that he would fill the bucket with. First he packed ocean wet sand into it, and he found that it worked great. Next he dug down into dry sand and got the wet stuff from under neath and that worked alright too. Then he came up to where I was sitting and filled his bucket with what I thought was dry sand. He took it to Daddy, and amazingly enough it worked too. Apparently he has the magic touch.

Liam's favorite part of the beach though would probably be destroying the sand castles that the ocean didn't get to first. Most of our "Liam's beach day" pictures are of him kicking and throwing pieces of his sandcastle across the beach.

After the beach we all went to my Aunts pool where we showered off and soaked in the nice hot tub. The perfect end to the perfect day.

Ezra at the Beach

I decided to give the boys their own beach blog entry, because they both had totally different experiences, and both experiences are totally blogable... I think.

First of all, we went on a nice little family vacation to California this month with Nana, Papa, and Auntie Cheyanne. Our first day of fun included Disneyland, but I left the video camera turned on all night and when we got to Disney the camera was 100% dead, so we'll have to post our Disney stuff at a future date, when I get some pics from my family. Now, to Ezra.....

Ezra is a big fan of going to the beach, but he is NOT a big fan of the ocean in general. The cold water is to much for his delicate two year old body to handle, so he is a big time sand player. On this trip we did convince him to run in the water a little bit towards the end, and he loved every second of it. Unfortunatly though, in the last ten minutes of play time he fell in a big wave, landing on his face. Needless to say, he was not impressed, although now he doesn't even remember that. Now he just focuses on the fact that he found a "baby crab."

Daddy Peavoy loves to dig in the sand at the beach and stumbled across a little sand crab. Ezra happend to be close by for the discovery and was so happy to carry it in his hand to show everybody his new treasure. Near the end of our ocean day Papa Tillack found a little shovel and Ezra put his treasured crab in it. Liam also found a baby crab with Daddy, but Liam was much more interested in sand castles and wave jumping then this little creature.

Ezra also filled up buckets of sand for Daddy and Auntie Cheyanne to help make a glorious sand castle, and he was absolutely devestated when the mean old ocean crept up and ate it. Daddy assured him that it would be okay and helped him build another one.

It was Cheyanne and Daddy who eventually convinced Ezra that it was fun to run towards the ocean when it was retreating, and then run away from the ocean when it chased him. As I mentioned before, this game was fun until the ocean got the best of him and threw him in.

Although there were a few tears today what with crabs that had to go back home to their Mommy's, and sand castles that got eaten by the ocean, and a face full of ocean wet sand, it was a really fun day, and the boys ask me every day when we get to go back to the beach.

Home School Week 2

This weeks theme was "Jungle." The vocab word was vines. Every week I print out the letter of the week and the boys color it and then glue things that start with that letter to it. This week the letter was B, the boys are still in love with the letter A though, and would rather print it then anything else. To help solve this problem we printed the letter B in chocolate pudding... this was both fun and incredibly messy, but totally worth it! The color is green, which goes well with the jungle, and the boys loved coloring pictures of Tarzan. In the pictures, the "nicer" looking colorings (by adult standard) are Ezras pictures that Mommy helped with. The other ones (usually all one color) are Liam's. He is doing very well with his coloring, and has come a long way since school. On "letter day" we will walk around the house and look for the letter on anything and everything that has words, and we play games in the car that help us find letters. The number of the week is 2.

We fit school in whenever we can, sometimes it's after dinner, but most times we do it in the morning. This particular day was right before bed time and the boys were really grouchy so the pictures didn't turn out well.

Home School Week 1

Well, I've joined the "home school wagon" and am teaching Liam and Ezra pre-K stuff here at home. Although they're not really school age yet, I thought it would be a good idea to get them started. It's been kind of slow going, and we don't do it as often as we should, but every day we do it I am amazed at how much they have learned and remember. They love it so much, and so do I!

We've used the boys closet door as the "learning wall" and change something on the poster every day. Each week has a theme and a vocabulary word, a shape or a color, a number, a letter, and a nursery rhyme.

The first weeks theme was "cows". The vocab words were calf and bull. They learned to draw squares, and finger painted for their first time (Ezra was scared to death and wouldn't touch it!) They learned to identify and write the letter A, and how to count to one (okay, they already knew that...) The nursery rhyme of the week was "Hey Diddle Diddle." Liam says: "Mommy... cow's can't REALLY jump over the moon.... can they?"

Ezra's favorite thing to do during school time is glue. He would glue all day if he could, which makes his favorite thing glue. He can often be found running around the house with a glue stick on his person. I'm constantly taking them away, explaining that glue is for school time only. In the photo of their square paintings, you can see Ezra's beloved glue stick.
